The First Digital Social Network

My second Linux Magazine article to be published, titled The First Digital Social Network, is scheduled for issue #217.

The First Digital Social Network is aimed at a generation of computer users who is not familiar with the Usenet. The Usenet was a forum-like discussion system that was very popular in the good old days, but lost many users to web forums well before the 2000’s. The Usenet, being a very resilient network, is still active today.

The article describes how the Usenet is organized internally, how newsgroups (which are like subforums) are managed by the network administrators, and how to get to approach it as an end user.
